Most homes have 1 board. Larger properties or those with extensions may have 2+.
Count the MCBs or RCBOs in your consumer unit — each one is a circuit. Ignore the main switch and any RCDs (they don’t count).

Not sure how many circuits you have?
Open your consumer unit cover and count the individual switches (MCBs/RCBOs). Don’t count the large main switch or any RCDs (double-width devices that protect groups of circuits). If in doubt, send us a photo and we’ll count for you.

We Don’t Charge for Failed Certificates
Most electricians will charge you for a failed EICR, then charge again for remedial work, then charge a third time for retesting. We don’t work that way.
If we find issues during your inspection, we will notify you of the defects and provide a separate quotation for the remedial work. Once approved and completed, we issue a satisfactory certificate — you only pay for one EICR, not a failed report and a retest.
If you specifically need an unsatisfactory report (e.g. for insurance or legal evidence), we can issue one on request.
Important: An EICR Does Not Guarantee a Pass
An EICR is an honest, impartial assessment of your electrical installation’s condition. If we identify defects coded C1 (danger present) or C2 (potentially dangerous), remedial work is required to bring the installation up to a safe standard.
We will clearly explain each defect, provide a separate quotation for the remedial work, and only proceed once you have given your approval. Remedial costs depend on the nature and extent of the defects found.
