What is an EICR?

A check of the cables, accessories, and fuse box that stay in the walls — with a clear written report.

A bit more detail (for buyers, sellers, and landlords)

A formal inspection and test of fixed wiring (cables, accessories, boards, earthing) against UK rules (BS 7671), with observation codes on the report.

Landlords in England usually need one at least every 5 years or on tenancy change. Useful when you’re buying or selling too. Full legal and technical context: Advanced (detailed) and our EICR service page.
