Heat Pump Electrical Preparation in Thanet

Air source heat pumps (ASHP) are one of the most popular upgrades for Thanet homeowners — encouraged by the government's Boiler Upgrade Scheme. But before the heat pump goes in, your electrical installation needs to be ready. We work across Margate, Ramsgate, Broadstairs and all of Thanet to get your home electrically ready.

Tip: Book the electrical assessment early. Heat pump installers often require the electrical work to be completed — or at least assessed — before they'll confirm your installation date.

What We Assess & Install

Incoming Supply Assessment Check your incoming 100A supply can handle the additional heat pump load alongside existing circuits
Consumer Unit Upgrade Upgrade to a modern RCBO board with spare ways for the heat pump and any future circuits
Dedicated ASHP Circuit 16–32A dedicated circuit in the correct cable size, run from the consumer unit to the outdoor unit location
Part P Certification All work certified to BS 7671 and notified to Building Control — required for BUS grant claims
EICR (if required) Many installers need a satisfactory EICR. We can combine this with the preparation visit to save cost
Immersion Heater Circuit Some heat pump systems include a hot water cylinder — we can install or upgrade the immersion circuit too
