Travel & Traffic
After decades on the road across Margate, Ramsgate, Broadstairs and every bay in between, the same pinch points still govern how long a run takes. Below are the live tools we use for trains, buses and road conditions, plus where queues typically build at peak times and school runs.
Live transport links
- National Rail Enquiries
- Southeastern (local rail)
- Stagecoach South East (buses)
- Kent County Council — roads & travel
- National Highways — Traffic England (live map)
Links open in a new tab. Operators’ own sites carry the latest timetables and disruption.
Local traffic hotspots
Expect heavier traffic around:
- Westwood Cross and the A254 / Manston Road approaches, especially late morning, late afternoon and Saturdays.
- The A28 coast corridor through Westbrook, Margate, Cliftonville and into Birchington at school and commuter peaks.
- Ramsgate harbour, Royal Harbour and town-centre routes when events or good weather draw crowds.
- Broadstairs town centre and cliff-top roads in summer and during school holidays.
- Minster straight and approaches to the Thanet Way (A299) when coast-bound traffic stacks up.
Always check live maps before travelling; roadworks and incidents change quickly.
