The Dream Look

Imagine your dream kitchen: work surfaces brightly lit so you never chop in shadow, warm ambient glow for evening drinks, and a statement pendant or two drawing the eye. That's layered lighting - and it transforms a kitchen from functional to magazine-worthy.

Trade Secret

Always separate your task lights (under-cabinet, above sink) from your mood lights on different circuits. That way you can dim the ambient without dimming where you need to see. And if you're fitting a feature pendant over an island, run a dedicated circuit - it gives you total control and avoids overloading shared switches.

The Mess Factor

For under-cabinet LED strips, we'll typically feed from existing socket circuits or a new spurred supply. Minimal disruption - usually just a chase up the wall behind the units. For ceiling downlights, we may need to lift floorboards above if it's a first-floor kitchen, but we'll put everything back exactly as it was. Dust sheets and a final clean are part of the job.

Thanet Home Highlight

Thanet kitchens range from compact Victorian sculleries to open-plan extensions. In Margate and Broadstairs, we see a lot of galley layouts where task lighting under cabinets is essential - and a single feature pendent over the dining end can create a dramatic focal point. Ramsgate's Georgian and Victorian townhouses often have high ceilings that cry out for oversized pendants.
